NU’s Patrick Reyes Featured for Leadership in Ocean Conservation & Marine Research

Patrick Reyes, Partner at NU Advisory Partners, was recently featured in a Hey Rhody article, “How Pat Reyes and Beavertail Open Water Are Protecting Rhode Island’s Waters,” which highlights his leadership of Beavertail Open Water, a Rhode Island nonprofit dedicated to open-water swimming, marine conservation, and scientific research.

The feature explores how Patrick has helped grow Beavertail Open Water into one of Rhode Island’s leading organizations for open-water athletics while using its events to support marine science research and protect the health of Narragansett Bay. Through marathon swims, fundraising initiatives, and community events, the nonprofit connects athletes, researchers, and volunteers around a shared mission of preserving Rhode Island’s coastal waters.

Patrick is a Partner at NU Advisory Partners, bringing expertise in the private markets. As a proactive problem-solver for investment and asset management clients, his approach to executive search covers both fund-level and portfolio company leadership appointments. His track record spans the energy, industrial, telecom, infrastructure, and adjacent technology sectors. He’s proud to have supported clients at pivotal moments in the development and launch of investment products addressing themes of decarbonization, electrification, digitalization, and automation.

Outside of his work at NU, Patrick founded Beavertail Open Water to promote open-water swimming while creating a lasting impact on Rhode Island’s marine environment.

The organization’s flagship event, the Around Beavertail Swim, is Rhode Island’s only annually held marathon open-water swim of 10 kilometers or more. Event proceeds help fund marine science research through Beavertail Open Water’s grant program, which has already supported research at the University of Rhode Island studying the state’s official coral species and the health of local marine ecosystems.

Beavertail Open Water is also expanding opportunities for aquatic sports by hosting Rhode Island’s first open-water water polo tournament, bringing together teams from across the Northeast while raising additional funds for conservation efforts.

Looking ahead, Patrick is preparing for the Ocean State Swim, an approximately 43-mile swim around Rhode Island’s coastline. The ambitious challenge is expected to take place in 2027 and will raise additional awareness and support for marine conservation.

Reflecting on his connection to the ocean, Patrick told Hey Rhody:

“When you’re ocean swimming, you’re truly unplugged and get the chance to clear your mind. Even in other activities, you’ve got your earbuds in and see the texts and emails come through. The ocean gives you a chance to step away from all of that.”

NU Advisory Partners congratulates Patrick on this well-deserved recognition and applauds his commitment to advancing marine conservation, supporting scientific research, and strengthening communities through Beavertail Open Water.
